Himachal celebrates 10th Civil services Day

The State level 10th Civil Services Day was celebrated at Fairlawns HIPA, in Mashobra today. The Function was presided over by Dr. Purnima Chauhan, Secretary Administrative Reforms. The theme of the day was 'Transforming India: Reform to Transform'. Civil Servants of the State including the Probationers of Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services participated.Felicitating the Civil Servants on the occasion, smt Purnima Chauhan read out the message of Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh.In her inaugural address, Smt. Chauhan said that it was important to understand that civil servants had significant role to play in the society which requires proactive approach towards the needs of the public. She said the Information & Technology was bringing dynamism and innovations for which civil servants need to acquaint themselves with the neo techniques which would help them in better service delivery. 

She said the Governmental programmes and policies besides public service guarantee act needs to be implemented honestly in letter and spirit so as to reach their benefit unto the last corner of the State. 

She said the human development was the key area to be focused adding that the civil servants were part of problems and their solutions at the same time. She said for good governance the focus should be on priorities which require proper planning, strategy and time bound implementation and incessant learning as well.Chauhan informed that in order to realize the vision of a governance which ensures transparency, accountability, efficient services delivery, proactive citizen participation in a decentralized mode, Himachal Pradesh has received various awards for IT enabled efficiency in governance which included Krishi Karman Award, Award for Soil Health Card initiative, Digital India E-Governance Award.                        

Presentations were also made by the State Civil Services officers and probationers on the changing role of governance, citizen centric reforms, flagship Central/State schemes and how to work towards ‘minimum government with maximum governance’ innovatively using the  numerous IT enabled mechanisms developed in HP. All 12 districts organized Sushashan Yatra at the District, Block & Panchayat level with posters & discussion on citizen centric projects that have proved to be examples of excellent contribution of people & public servants.Shri Virender Thakur, Additional Director HIPA and Shri Rajeev Bansal Research officer welcomed the guests and participants. Shri Neeraj Goel, Technical Director, NIC presented the vote of thanks.
