State Technical Universities To Adopt The Resolution Against " Conflict Of Interest"

In a landmark move to improve the transparency and fairness in their working, both the State Technical Universities i.e. Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University and I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University shall adopt a resolution against “Conflict of Interest”. Under the resolution, every decision maker associated with both the Technical Universities will certify that he has no direct or indirect personal interest in the matter and that he has no such interest which is in conflict with the interests of the University.The Board of Governors decided on the hiring of professional placement agency, introduction of new industry driven courses, adoption of UGC guidelines in all recruitments and promotions. The meeting of Board of Governors of Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University was held at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh under the chairmanship of by Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, IAS, Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab.The focus of the State Technicial Universities shall be upon academic excellence, to improve the employability of students and also to improve the transparency in the internal working of the universities. 

Mr. M P Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, MRSSTU apprised the Board that placement fair had already been organized on 18.03.2016 and 59 students were successfully employed in MNCs. He further stated that next placement fair will be organized on university campus on 21st & 22nd April. Chief Secretary instructed the University officials to immediately recruit a seasoned management professional to manage the placement cell and placement activities of the University. The university will further hire professional placement agencies, which will assist the universities in building strong relationship with the corporate companies for placement of students. A Committee consisting of leading industrialists, members of CII, FICCI, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Academicians was also formed to advise the University on various placement activities.It was further decided that industry-driven courses like Cloud-computing, Bio-Mechanics etc. should also be introduced in both the universities from the next academic year. Detailed deliberations were also held regarding Ph.D. guidelines and procedure adopted for award of Ph.D. It was decided to adhere to UGC guidelines not only in matters relating to Ph.D. but also in recruitments, promotions, career advancement schemes etc.

The Chairman Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal decided that both the universities must finalize a proposal to introduce online admission/counseling/examination scheme within a year as a major step towards modernization and transparency.The Chief Secretary further ordered that curriculum vitae, photographs, Aadhar Card number of all the facilities of affiliated colleges should be available on the website of colleges. Both the universities should ensure that all affiliated colleges must release the salary of faculty and staff through banks via DBS only. The universities will also ensure the same for their staff/faculty in main campus as well as constituent colleges.The BoG also approved the training policy for teaching faculty. It was also decided to introduce choice based credit system, minimum eligibility criteria for 2016-2017 admissions, migration rules, Ph.D. fee structure. The Chairman also directed both the Universities to digitize the legacy records like service books and also to upgrade its website to enable the students to directly deal online with the university on matters like certificate verification, equivalent certificate, payment of fees etc. The meeting was attended by Mr.MP Singh, Principal Secretary Technical Education, Mr.R.K.Verma, Vice Chancellor, IKG PTU, Mr.MP Singh Ishar, VC, MRSSTU and other concerned officers.
