Mohali Villages Set To Get Facelift With Rs.185.39 Crore

The Punjab government has set aside Rs.185.39 crore exclusively for the infrastructure development of 19 villages falling in Mohali district.Presiding over a meeting of Rural Development department,  Surjit Singh Rakhra, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister reviewed the development programme of Mohali villages. He expressed concern over the fact that GMADA has not released compensation to the villages panchayats in lieu of panchayat land acquired by them. It was informed that Rs.113 crore compensation was struck in courts and no body was following the release of compensation.  Rakhra asked the GMADA officials to get the money released at the earliest and spent them on the village development. He also issued instructions that compensation for land being acquired for providing access roads to mega projects be handed over to concerned panchayats. It was decided to convene the meeting of Panchayat official on October 3 to demarcate the access roads for mega projects. It was also decided to release pending Rs.70 crore to the panchayat. Industry department was asked to gave compensation to the panchayat on whose land mining was being allowed. Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included Financial Commissioner Development  Mandeep Singh Sandhu, Director  Balwinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner  Varun Roojam.
