On finding “Fuel smell” in a Spring at Reshinag lowermunda Qazigund that supplies water to Bongam Lowermunda in South Kashmir in Anantnag District, the PHE has already appealed people to not use water for the drinking purposes. KNS received a report from Department of Geology and Mining confirmed that after proper testing is conducted the solutes (oil emulsion) is a spring water can be expressed as possible chemical compounds of mixing of ANFO (Amunium Nitrate fuel oil) explosive material used during blasting with infiltrating recharge water of under construction four lane tunnel, as one of the blasting agent contain fuel oil. The matter came into the limelight after people of the village, found Fuel like smell in the drinking water that is being supplied from the spring. After survey by the PHE team, lift of drinking water was stopped and now tankers have been deployed for supply of drinking water to the areas concerned. But the villagers told to KNS that the PHE officials bothered to supply us drinking water from last one week as we request to several times to authorities. But they ignored said Sarpanch Nisar Ahmad Beigh. He further said that we take water from two killo meters far away from homes. The PHE officials failed to provide us safe water. he added.We request to Higher authorities to look into the matter and provide us safe water.
