Governor presents Rajbhasha awards

Governor Acharya Devvrat said that love towards mother tongue was love for the country and Hindi being our 'Matribhasha' which should be implemented practically so that sense of patriotism could be generated among the citizens particularly the youth of the day.The Governor presided over the annual Rajbhasha Award distribution and cultural programme organized by Nagar Rajbhasha Implementation committee, Shimla today.While appreciating the efforts of the organizers to promote the national language, Acharya Devvrat said it was necessary that the country's administrative, professional, scientific and technical work should be done in the Hindi language making it a common language so that our country could proceed on the path of speedy progress. Moreover, it was the question of self-respect and for every Indian, he added.

He said that over the years various efforts have been made to promote Hindi at different levels but unfortunately Hindi had still not received the recognition it deserve it deserves ad it was a matter of concern that especially younger generation shirks away from using Hindi language; which in fact mantra of unity of the Nation.The Governor said that as per the data, Hindi was being spoken in 132 countries of the world and was getting wide publicity in those countries where English was the mother tongue. He said that Hindi had a most scientific grammar and it had more words in its vocabulary, than other foreign languages. He added that today's social media like Web, Internet, blogs, social networking were dominated by Hindi language.Acharya Devvrat said that today, our country was setting new dimensions of development. In a present context, it was important to maintain the moral values In future generations and it could be possible only through Hindi as it was our spirit, culture and impression, he added. He appealed to every citizen of the country to use more and more Hindi in every area of lives that we use.

Quoting the examples of developed countries he said that the development in these countries took place because they worked by using their mother tongue for scientific development and giving knowledge to their children. He said that he was not against any foreign language but anyone who spoke Hindi or adopted Indian culture and costumes was also not inferior but was working for the pride of the nation.The Governor lauded the efforts of the committee in the implementation or use Hindi in government offices. He hoped that in government offices all could encourage the maximum use of Hindi as it was simple, natural and acceptable to all.Earlier, the Governor released a souvenir of the Nagar Rajbhasha implementation committee, Shimla on the occasion.

He also distributed prizes to the winners of various events organized throughout the year and the departmental heads who worked for encouraging Hindi in the offices.President of the organising committee Shri S.C. Negi detailed about the activities being under taken to promote Hindi language in Government offices.Dr. Surender Sharma read out the annual report of the committee.
