CAPD holding review meeting on NFSA

The Government Tuesday said that it will review the National Food Security Act that sparked protests in the Valley and will not deprive the consumers of ration.Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali said that he will hold a review meeting with the officials of the department on NFSA.“We will hold a review meet on Wednesday and if the department feels that the Food Security Act needs amendment, we will amend it,” Ali told KNS.Ali, who held the same portfolio in the PDP-BJP coalition-I, said that ration scale will be increase and no family in the state will be deprived of ration.

“We will review other deficiencies, if any, in the Act. And we will distribute ration as per the wishes of the consumers,” the CAPD minister said.The Valley erupted with protests after the NFSA was enacted directly in the previous PDP-BJP coalition through a cabinet order. After the Act was implemented, further protests erupted and the Governor administration increased the scale of ration by 2 kgs. (KNS)
