Dr. M.P. Sood releases souvenir of Shimla Press Club

Director, Information and Public Relations, Dr. M.P. Sood today released the souvenir of Press Club, Shimla on the occasion of 30th foundation year of the Club.Speaking on the occasion Dr. M.P. Sood congratulated the members on completion of 30 years of Shimla Press Club and organizing various social and constructive activities. He said the State Government was making every effort to facilitate the media persons around the State and recently the accreditation policy had been simplified and notified to provide accreditation facility to maximum journalists including photo journalists. Besides, the State Government was also working on      on-line media concept with a view to provide accreditation and recognition to the journalists working with different news web portals etc.The Director said that the Himachal Pradesh Journalists Welfare Scheme announced by Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh would go a long way in facilitating the media persons besides redressing their issues. He said the Chief Minister had also announced a sum of rupees one crore for construction of new building of Shimla Press Club and the Information & Public Relations Department was working on identifying some  suitable land and as soon as the land was finalized, the work would be started immediately.On the demand raised by the members of the Press Club, Dr. M.P. Sood assured to provide two LED televisions, computer and CCTV cameras for the Club. Various other issues were also discussed during the interaction and the Director assured of every possible help to facilitate the media persons.He also suggested the Press Club Shimla to work as a forum for discussing various social agendas and issues relating to the development of the State.Earlier, President, Shimla Press Club Shri Gian Thakur raised various issues of the working journalists and also placed few demands to develop and renovate the club keeping in view the rising number of the media persons.Senior journalist Shri Ashwani Sharma presented vote of thanks.
