Asks DCs to ensure sanitation in cities, towns

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoonon Friday asked the concerned officers of local bodies to ensure sanitation in their respective towns and cities and directed Deputy Commissioners to constantly review the sanitation measures being taken by the department in their respective districts.In a meeting with Deputy Commissioners through video conferencing, Dr. Samoon reviewed the sanitation measures being taken in various districts of Kashmir division. The meeting was also attended by Director School Education Kashmir besides officers from department of Srinagar Municipal Committee, local bodies, Traffic and ICDS.During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner stressed the need to create awareness to avoid polythene littering and inculcating cleanliness values particularly among school children.The Divisional Commissioner directed DCs to initiate measures to clean water tanks, waterways, reservoirs and other potable water places so as to avoid any water borne diseases in their respective districts. He also asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in all government offices and public places in towns and cities.Dr. Samoon further directed the DCs to constantly review the functioning of Municipal Committees in their jurisdiction and send daily reports to his office regarding sanitation measures being taken by them.
