PWD To Focus On Development Of Critical Infrastructure During 2012-13-Sharanjit Dhillon

To Complete Construction Of 48 Veterinary Hospital And 3 Dacs Within One Year

The Punjab PWD department has decided to focus of completion of critical infrastructure during 2012-12 to provide quality citizen services to the people in the state. Disclosing this here,  Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister said that as a part of this campaign construction of 48 veterinary hospital would be completed by the construction wing of Public Works Department during next one year with a combined cost of Rs. 19 crore.The Minister said out of these total 48 hospitals, 14 are under construction at Tehsil level while 34 would be at Block level by the PWD. He said that a total cost of Rs. 7.55 Crore and Rs. 11.49 crore would be spent on these tehsil and block level hospitals respectively.  He said that Tapa, Dhuri, Balachaur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Bagha Purana, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Bassi Pathana, Nakodar, Rajpura, Raikot, Zira, Fazilka and Abohar would witness Tehsil level veterinary hospitals with a cost of Rs. 53.97 lakh on each building. Dhillon said that in block level hospitals Mehal Kalan, Handaya, Banga, Bholath, Bhikhi, Jhunir, Sardulgarh, Dharamkot, Dera Baba Nanak, Fatehgarh Churian, Dhar Khurad, Mahilpur, Tanda, Jaiton, Kapurthala, Nathana, Maur Mandi, Chohla Sahib, Naushera Pannuan, Jandiala Guru, Chogawan, Rajasansi, Mandi Gobindgarh, Adampur, Kartarpur, Shahkot, Lohian, Nangal, Khuhian Sarwar, Makhu, Jalalabad, Malout and Lambi would get these hospitals. He said that Rs. 33.81 lakh would be spent on each building.Giving details about the construction of new state-of-the-art District Administrative Complexes (DAC), the Minister said that Punjab Government has finalized a detailed plan to construct hi-tech DACs. He said that the construction of administrative complexes would soon start in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Fazilka.  Dhillon said that the under construction five DACs at Tarn Taran, Barnala, Ferozepur, Kapurthala and Ajitgarh would become operational by March 2013 with a combined cost of Rs. 270 crore. He said that 10 under construction Tehsil complexes at Kharar, Tapa, Chamkaur Sahib, Dhuri, Bholath, Jagraon, Dera Baba Nanak, Moonak, Patran and Budhlada were on the advanced stage of completion. The Minister also informed that the SAD-BJP Government has also completed the construction of 15 University Colleges with a total cost of Rs. 180 crore.
