Naik reviews developmental works under tourism sector

Holds discussions with stakeholders for promoting tourism in region

Principal Secretary Tourism Sandeep Kumar Naik who is on a three days visit to Leh district convened a meeting with Travel Trade Association at Food Craft Centre, Leh today.Deputy Commissioner  Leh Parasanna Ramasawamy G, CEO LDA, AD Tourism Leh and Kargil, Vice president, Secretary and members of Travel Trade Operator Associations (ALTOA) were present in  the meeting.Members  ALTOA raised the issue of environmental fee  and construction of STP in Leh town during the tourist season.They also apprised about the issue of    fee being charged on the member of mountaineering expeditions, problems of Internet facilities, Air fare, and nomination of member from Ladakh in Tourism Advisory Board.The Principal Secretary assured  members ALTOA that he would take  up the matter with the LAHDC and District Administration for its  early redressal  .He  also asked DC, Leh to take up the matter with BSNL authorities regarding setting  up of a V set to  improve  the internet facilities  for  Tour and Travel agencies.

Earlier Mr Naik convened  a meeting with Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh and Deputy Commissioner, Leh  and discussed  various issues  pertaining to tourism  industry .He also held  meeting with officers and executing agencies of the   tourism department at Hotel Grand Dragon, Leh  and  reviewed  the steps taken for  infrastructural development and promotional activities in the region .He also reviewed the physical and financial progress in the sector and directed the concerned agencies to strictly adhere to the timelines fixed for completing the ongoing projects .Principal Secretary also inspected Construction work of Trans-Himalayan Culture Centre, Leh which is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore funded by GOI under Ministry of Tourism T&K State. He also inspected Convention Centre, Tourist Information Centre, Sindhu Sanskriti Kender and Golf Course at Leh.
