Commissioner Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari today reviewed the comprehensive District Irrigation Plans (DIPs) prepared by Agriculture and Allied Departments under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).He expressed satisfaction on the pace of preparation of DIPs in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions. It was informed that 15 draft DIPs have already been prepared and are under final scrutiny. He directed all concerned for finalization of the projects so that technically viable and complete projects are submitted to Government of India (GOI) at the earliest.Commissioner Secretary stressed upon all the officers to strictly adhere to the directions and guidelines and make practicable plans in consultation with all the allied departments and stakeholders to increase water use efficiency for area expansion under irrigation which would in turn facilitate enhancement of production and productivity of agriculture and horticulture crops. Convergence of various investments in irrigation at the field level was stressed to enhance physical access of water at the farm level. He expressed that area expansion under irrigation in cultivated lands shall ensure realization of the theme and the dream of PMKSY i.e. Har Khet ko Paani (irrigation to every field).

Bukhari stressed upon all the Chief Agriculture Officers to create awareness and change the general mindset in favour of efficient use of water to enhance precision irrigation and other water saving technologies so that “More Crop” is produced “Per Drop”.During the meeting, Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Baramulla, Kathua and Rajouri gave detailed Power Point Presentations (PPTs) to explain their Irrigation Plans.Various issues which cropped up during the discussion were flagged for desired action by respective districts. A Sub-Committee headed by Director Command Area Development, Jammu was asked to look into the issues raised during the meeting and ensure their due incorporation in the District Irrigation Plans (DIPs) for further submission to the State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC).Director Agriculture, Jammu/Kashmir, Director CAD, Jammu/Kashmir, Director Horticulture Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineers of Irrigation & Flood Control, PHE, Director Planning APD, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) Jammu, Chief Agriculture Officers of Jammu/Kashmir and other officers of the allied departments participated in the deliberations.
