Div Com inaugurates plantation drive at Kulgam

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon   today kick started    plantation drive by planting Chinars and deodars  at Mini Secretariat, premises   and Government Higher Secondary School, Chawalgam , Kulgam here today.Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by District Commissioner Kulgam   Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Director Floriculture Department Talat Parvez and, Registrar Cooperative Department Mushtaq Ahmad besides other sectoral officers. Addressing the school children after planting saplings, the Div Com exhorted upon them to took active part in extracurricular activities for much needed exposure to their mental horizons. He also distributed cash prizes and certificates among the students who have excelled in academics and co-curricular activities.

Later, Divisional Commissioner reviewed the sector wise performance of various departments including R&B, PHE, Health, RDD and Education departments in an officers meeting.It was informed in the meeting that an expenditure of Rs 61.28 crore has been made against the availability of Rs 71.82 crore thus recording a progress of 85.33% under District Annual Plan, 2015-16.Under R&B sector, 53.45 km road length has been macadamised and 6 bridges are under construction. Under PHE sector, Rs 257.52 lakh expenditure has been made against the availability of Rs 282.71 lakh benefitting 06 habitations. Besides, 06 habitations have been covered benefitting 6347 souls Under NRDWP. In PMGSY sector, a cumulative expenditure of Rs 118.36 crore has been made covering 66 habitations with 256054 souls.

In health sector, against the availability of Rs 67.28 lakh, an expenditure of Rs 36.94 has been made. Besides, work on District Hospital, 4 SDH and 22 PHCs is in progress. Under NMH, 7 out of 9 works have been completed and remaining two shall be completed soon.The Divisional Commissioner was informed that under SSA, 78 buildings were taken up in 2015-16, of which 28 have been completed. Besides, against the target of 15 buildings, 9 have been completed under RMSA, so far.Taking review of agriculture and allied sectors, Divisional Commissioner said that these sectors are prime in respect of income generation and employment provision. He stressed on the need for providing further impetus to these sectors.The meeting was attended by ADC, CPO, ACR, CEO Aharbal Development Authority, PO ICDS, SE R&B, PHE, PDD, District Officers of Agriculture, Floriculture, Sericulture, Horticulture, CAPD, and line departments.
