UMEED implementation reviewed at Anantnag

Additional District Development Commissioner Anantnag Mr. Muhammad Younis Malik today chaired a meeting of officers to review the implementation of flagship rural livelihood scheme, UMEED for the execution of National Rural Livelihood Mission in three blocks of the district viz. Dooru, Khovripora and Breng providing self employment opportunity to identified poor girls.Highlighting the achievements of UMEED for the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission, it was informed in the meeting that out of the total 25696 Households in block Breng, 500 Self Help Groups were formed till date in the area, involving poor girls from 4500 households. Similarly in the block Dooru, out of the total 13173 households, 217 Self Help Groups were formed involving poor girls from 1720 households. While in the block Khovripora, out of the total of 11878 households, 375 SHGs were formed involving 3840 households.  Among the SHGs, in the three blocks, 376 in Breng, 121 in Dooru and 273 in Khovripora are graded A under planned intervention which enables them to avail additional funds.

 Stressing on the implementation of UMEED in every backward area by maximum coverage of poor families in the three blocks, the ADDC said that NRLM is a complete package for installing of SHGs in the rural area as the scheme provides assistance at every level. He said that the scheme envisages facilitating knowledge dissemination, skill building, access to credit, access to marketing and other livelihood facilities.The ADDC said that NRLM is a universal social mobilization scheme for social empowerment that ensures that at least one female member of every poor family is provided an income generating platform by way of including her in the SHGs. He said that these SHGs are provided space voice and resource to elevate the economic levels of girls by reducing their financial dependence.Urging upon the participants to tap the vast resources in fisheries and animal husbandry sector in the areas, the ADDC asked the officers of the concerned departments  to take up the initiative by providing maximum assistance to the rural poor for development of SHGs by collaborating with the schemes like MGNREGA Convergence.It was also informed in the meeting that Rs. 1755000 of Revolving Grant has been availed by the SHGs of Dooru while SHGs of Breng have availed Revolving Grant and Community Investment Fund of Rs 11440000. Similarly SHGs of Khovripora have availed Revolving Grant of Rs 3525000 and Community Investment Fund Rs. 6680000.
