Horrible:Doctor allegedly removed oxygen pipe to let the patient die

Police registered an attempt to murder case against a doctor who allegedly in a bid to put blame on his rival doctor removed oxygen pipe from the patient at SMHS hospital Srinagar.The complaint according to police was lodged by the attendants of the patient who alleged that the accused doctor tried to play with the life of the patient, to demean the position of his rival doctor.Insiders at SMHS hospital informed CNS that two doctors (a male and a lady doctor) entered into a scuffle shortly after a doctor operated upon a patient in Trauma Theater. “One of the doctors objected and told his rival doctor that he is not good at operating patients. 

The led to the argument and subsequently the two doctors tried to manhandle each other,” sources said.They added that matter did not stop there but one of the doctors tried to deprive the same patient from inhaling oxygen so that blame could be put on his rival. “CCTV footage showed the doctor removing oxygen pipe while he was later directed by hospital administrator to clear his position,” they said.“We can’t compromise on the security of the patients. It is disgusting and criminal act. The matter should be thoroughly investigation and culprits should be taken to task,” a senior doctor told CNS on condition of anonymity.

Sources said that the action of the doctor infuriated the attendants of the patient who lodged a written complaint against the accused doctor. “Both the doctors are juniors who instead of approaching us took to the case to police station. A committee headed by HoD Surgical Department has been constituted to probe the matter,” Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital told CNS.A top police official said that an FIR vide number 16/2016 under section 307, 120B has been registered against the accused doctor and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the facts.
