Women’s day celebrated at GDC Reasi

In connection with International Women’s Day, one-day state level seminar was organized at General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College here on the topic “Women Empowerment - Indian Perspective”.  Dr Nirmal Gupta, Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function.Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gupta described empowerment as the capability to face any type of challenge in one’s life.Earlier in her welcome Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal of the college, emphasized on the meaning of empowerment and highlighted the objectives of the seminar.The keynote address was presented by Dr Vishav Raksha, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu.

There were three technical sessions chaired by Dr Vishvaraksha, Dr T R Sharma and Dr Karan Singh in which 23 papers were presented by the participants drawn from the different streams.In the valedictory   function MLA Reasi. Ajay Nanda was Chief Guest who appreciated the efforts of the college authorities to have organised such a meaningful seminar on the topic  which synchronizes with the International Women Week.Vote of thanks for technical  sessions and valedictory sessions were presented by Prof Rajesh Sharma, Tania Akhtar, Amandeep and Prakhyat Sharma.The paper that was most appreciated was “Representation of Women by Media” presented by Prof Rubeena Yasmeen.
