Renovation work of the Nagasaki atomic bomb museum has been completed with a ceremony held on Monday in the western Japanese city marking the occasion. The renovation work started last summer as a project to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, public broadcaster NHK reported.Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue said the museum played an increasingly important role in passing on the legacy as the bombing survivors get older. One new exhibit illustrates how the shock wave and the heat of the explosion travelled through the city by projecting video images on a diorama of Nagasaki.Another features digitised images from an 11-metre scroll that depicts the devastation of the city during the three days following the bombing on August 9, 1945.Other photos and paintings have also been digitised to allow visitors to select and view them using a touch-screen device.
