Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon today kick started sanitation week at Mughal Garden, Jarokho Bagh ,Manasbal.District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, accompanied the Divisional Commissioner.Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said that the weeklong sanitation drive is being carried across the state with focus on importance of preserving water bodies. He added that plans are being made to evolve an effective mechanism to protect our water resources as well as heritage sites.He said that the Tourism Department will be developing infrastructure for water sports in Manasbal Lake. He directed the floriculture department to give special focus on beautification and development of the banks of Manasbal Lake.  

The District Development Commissioner said that water and sanitation always remains everyone's business and campaigns like this highlight the importance of Government as well as Community to protect our water sources and address our sanitation challenges.Asghar Samoon, on the occasion, stressed the need of installing more dumper bins at various places of Manasbal Lake. He directed the concerned departments to focus more on unattended bad spots and ensure lifting of garbage throughout this week.  Among others DDC Bandipora, Director Education, CEO Manasbal Development Authority, Chief Education Officer, , Floriculture officer, other officials and locals were present on the occasion.
