CM Constitutes Committee To Constitute Memorial Of Baba Jai Singh At Village Baran

Committee Also To Undertake Beautification Work Of Village

Recognising the contributions and sacrifice of Baba Jai Singh Khalkat made by him to uphold the rich Sikh tenets, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab constituted a committee to construct a memorial in his native village Baran in district Patiala.Disclosing this here an official spokesperson said that Mr. Sewa Singh Sekhwan, former cabinet minister, Punjab has been made the chairman of this committee whereas Deputy Commissioner, Patiala has been inducted as vice chairman. He said that notification in this regard has also been issued. ADC (General), Patiala would be the Nodal officer for this task and Sarpanches of both the two Panchayats of village Baran have been inducted in the committee as members. Likewise President and General Secretary of the Gurudwara committee of village Baran have also been made the members in this committee. He said that committee has been mandated to devise a plan to construct memorial in the memory of Baba Jai Singh and also for the beautification of the village. It is pertinent to mention here that it is due to the relentless efforts of Mr. Sewa Singh Sekhwan that new startling revelations regarding the sacrifice and contributions of Baba Jai Singh have been brought to fore. Baba Ji had sacrificed whole of his family during Mughal Rule in 1753 in the endeavour to uphold the sikh tenets.
