Historic Shivkhori Mela concludes with massive participation of devotees

The historic 3-day Shiv Khori Mela concluded today at Ransoo, Base Camp of Holy Shiv Khori Shrine.The Mela was organized by the District Administration Reasi in collaboration with Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) and Tourism Department.The shrine was decorated to match the occasion  and the district administration had made elaborate arrangements of all basic amenities, sanitation, drinking water, electricity and security & safety of devotees.Langars and Bhandaras had also been arranged for the pilgrims at the base camp and near the shrine. Departmental stalls were also set up at Shiv Shakti Bhawan, Ransoo for providing job oriented information to the youths of the area. Cultural programmes were presented by many artists during the three day mela.On the concluding day, MLA Reasi, Ajay Nanda was the chief guest while the Executive Officer SSKSB, Mahesh Sharma was the guest of honour.

Vishal Dangal (Wrestling) was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department, District Administration, Reasi and Ransoo Dangal Committee under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma at GHS Ransoo in Pouni tehsil of District Reasi.In all, about 45 bouts were wrested in the Dangal.Wrestler Ifhaq Ahmed of Jammu lifted the 18th Shiv Khori Kesari title 2016 by defeating wrestler Amritpal of Amritsar in a neck to neck contest.The chief guest along with other dignitories gave the cash prize of Rs 5000 a silver Guraj (Gadda) and Patta to the winner of 1st malli wrestler Ifhaq Ahmed. Cash prize of Rs 3,000 was given to runners-up wrestler Amritpal.The three-day mela witnessed attendance of about 1.5 lacs devotees to the holy shrine as reported by SSKSB.Among others, ASP  Reasi  Sanjay Rana, DYSSO Reasi, S S Chib, Tehsildar Pouni, Munshi Ram, DSP Hqr Mohan Lal Sharma, NT Ransoo Ashok Kumar, SHO  and other officers, Sarpanches, Panches, members of Dangal committee and people in large number were also present on the occasion.
