PM inaugurates Mumbai airport's new terminal

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday inaugurated the new terminal building of the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) here.The new Terminal-2 (T2), spread over 1,400 acres, has come up at an estimated cost of Rs.12,500 crore ($2 billion).The swanky new terminal, which has been developed under airport modernisation master plan by the Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (MIAL), can cater to around 40 million passengers annually.MIAL is a joint venture between Airports Authority of India and industrial conglomerate GVK, which was mandated the CSIA's modernizing and upgrading in February 2006.
