Mehbooba visits Sarore victims ,‘Wants settlement policy for nomads’

Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited the Gujjar families in Sarore area in Samba district, and expressed her sympathy with them.Mehbooba was accompanied by other PDP leaders including former minister Choudhary Zulfikar.Zulfikar told KNS that the PDP president visited the families and paid her condolence with the family of Mohammad Yaqoob, who was killed in police firing in Sarore.“Mehbooba ji visited the families in Sarore today. She said that the eviction of the people should not be selective but inclusive for all. Nomads should not face any harassment from the state. She insisted that the state should frame a settlement policy for the nomads,” Zulfikar told KNS.Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday had met Governor N.N.Vohra yesterday where she discussed the political and developmental scenario in the state with the governor.Zulfikar said that the PDP president has conveyed her concern to the Governor when she called on him on Friday.On February 23, Mohammad Yaqoob was killed in police firing in Sarore in Samba district after some miscreants set ablaze Gujjar hutments and some residential houses. The Gujjar leaders had demanded judicial probe into the whole affair. (KNS)
