Several delegations call on Div Com

Several delegations from different parts of the valley Thursday called on Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and put forth their issues before him.The delegations apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the problems confronting them including scarcity of drinking water, erratic and unscheduled power supply, delay in disbursement of relief for flood affected people, protection, and restoration of river Jhelum, strengthening of bunds across rivers and streams,  besides other issues.A delegation of fish dealers and retailers also met Divisional Commissioner and apprised him about the problems confronting them. They said people associated this trade have no specific place to sell their products and demanded establishment of a fish market in Srinagar city. 

The delegation informed that they sell about 5 tons of fish in the city on daily basis but in summers due to high temperature their sales decreases as they have no cold storage facility.The Divisional Commissioner gave patient hearing to all the delegations and gave on spot directions for the speedy redressal of issues. He asked concerned officers to be empathetic while dealing with public and address their grievances within minimum possible time. Dr. Samoon asked the PDD and PHE departments to ensure power and water supply to the people.Dr Samoon stressed upon the officers to work with dedication and honesty and ensure timely disposal of pubic related matter.Later, Divisional Commissioner convened a meeting with officers of Fisheries department and asked them to identify a suitable place for establishment of  fish market in the city.
