Army hosts “Model Youth Mela” at Chrar-e-Sharief

The electrifying atmosphere at the Tsrar-e-Sharief sports ground aptly encapsulated the vigour and zeal of the youth for whom the Army today inaugurated ‘Modern Youth Mela’ dedicated to the aspirations of today’s youth.PRO (Def) Srinagar, Col NN Joshi in a statement to KNS said the sports ground was witness to an over 3000 enthusiastic crowd of all ages and gender from urban as well as remote regions of Kandi belt. The Mela was aimed at providing a focused guidance on various career opportunities available for different age groups and qualifications. The highlights of the event were inauguration of upgraded Sports Complex at Tsrar-e-Sharief, Mobile Chinar 9 Jawan Club, commencement of Cricket Tournament and Drawing Competition for school children. A stall was also established by ARO, Srinagar which explained the youth about various entry schemes to Armed Forces. A Medical and Dental camp was also organised during the event. Over 600 patients benefitted from the Medical camp.

The event was inaugurated by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua, who complimented the youth for their grit, determination, high spirit and overwhelming participation. He expressed his hope that the facilities being made available to youth through these initiatives will hone their skills for better future prospects. He also highlighted the ground work done by Army during various Sadhbhavana activities carried out in Badgam district. Representatives from various state government departments were also present during the event.Another attraction for the people especially the young children, was the presence of the youth icons in their own right Jai Bhanshali and Kunwar Amarjeet Singh both renowned TV personalities and Indian Hockey Team member Yuvraj Valmiki who not only addressed the gathering but even shaked their legs with equally excited children on some foot tapping numbers. 

On the occasion, Chinar Corps Commander also felicitated children and youth from various organisations that participated in the event, Women Empowerment Centre run by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, cricket teams from Budgam Distt, Chinar 9 Jawan Club, Qasba Nagam, Orphanage children from Chadoora & Khansahib, and volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers. Certificates were awarded to the candidates who had successfully completed Food and Beverage course which was held for unemployed youth of Pulwama dist. The Army extended sincere gratitude towards the locals for their whole hearted support in making the event a grand success and the youths expressed their hope in capitalising on the plethora of information related to employment provided during the event.
