Former Chief Minister and National Conference Working President, Omar Abdullah on Wednesday questioned PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti over her ‘vague’ demands to erstwhile alliance partner BJP for resuming the government.“What are your demands which late Mufti (Mohammad Sayeed ) sahib could not get from BJP. When agenda of alliance was declared, Mehbboba ji said that it is sacred document and encompasses everything. What happen now?” Omar said while addressing a public meeting at the event of Shabir Ahmed Kullay’s return to the party in Shopian. “When I talk to my friends in BJP, they say they quite don’t understand what she is demanding. She needs to come clear what she seeking what Mufti sahib could not get from BJP,” he said, according to GNS correspondent.
He said senior PDP Leader and Member Parliament Muzaffar Baig has publicly admitted that PDP has sought no CBMs from the Central Government and continues to be committed to their ‘Agenda of the Alliance’ with the BJP. They even went to the extent of terming their ‘Agenda of the Alliance’ ‘sacred’ – perhaps ignorant of what this word means to the people of the State. I wish they had spoken up for our flag with similar passion when their alliance partner openly questioned the sanctity of our flag”, the National Conference Working President said.He also announced National Conference would never enter into any sort of an alliance with the BJP and said he would rather quit politics than compromise with the honour and dignity of the State and its people. Omar Abdullah said PDP’s sellout to the BJP brought with it disillusionment, disempowerment and contempt for the people of the State. Welcoming Shabir Ahmed Kullay back into the party fold, Omar Abdullah said the party would continue to consolidate its presence at the grassroots level.
“PDP entered into an alliance with those who want to abolish our flag, destroy the foundations of our special status and patronize those who persecute people on the basis of what they eat and do not eat. In the last year, BJP has used its alliance with PDP in J&K as a certificate to disguise its politics of polarization as that of inclusivity. Fact of the matter is that PDP has risked the political rights and interests of our people in order to clench on to power in an embrace with the BJP while BJP and RSS leaders continue to spew venom against minorities and continue to threaten them of dire consequences. I can never have anything to do with these people and would refuse every position of power that comes at the cost of the dignity of my people”, Omar Abdullah said. .The NC Working President said PDP is still extremely keen and interests in forming a Government with BJP yet again and the continued delay is just an attempt by the party to fake a sense of ideological conviction that they clearly lack. “Mehbooba Mufi says the 10-month long PDP-BJP Government led by Mufti Sahab did not benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir. If this Government did not benefit the people, who are the actual beneficiaries of this alliance and why is PDP still in an alliance with the BJP? Mehbooba Mufti played a vital and instrumental role in forging PDP’s alliance with the BJP and any posturing to the contrary today is just a desperate attempt to salvage the last vestiges of PDP’s existence in the polity of the State”, Omar Abdullah further said.
Lashing out at Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah said Mehbooba and her party are squarely responsible for the NFSA induced chaos and protests in the State and said PDP’s veiled attempts to deflect responsibility to the Governor is ridiculous. “You brought NFSA to J&K, not the Governor. The Governor’s administration is only implementing what you approved in the tenure of the previous Government. Today people are marching towards the Line of Control (LoC) in search of ration and food grains. Is this the change PDP had promised? While you abandoned the flood victims with amazing ruthlessness and arrogance, you are now leaving no stone unturned to deprive our people of basic ration. This is a classic example of what the PDP-BJP Government has done with the State”, Omar Abdullah added while addressing public in Shopian.
