DDC Reviews Functioning of AHD

District Development Commissioner, Mr Mohammad Harun Malik today visited various farming units of Animal Husbandry Department(AHD) in Poonch and took stock of their functioning. Accompanied by the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Dr. Mohammad Ismael, the DDC visited three dairy farms at Kanuyian supporting 55 high yielding cross-bred animals, dairy cooperative society formed by AHD and fodder plots at Kanuyian where seeds are being provided by the AHD and Berseen and Oats are being cultivated.CAHO apprized the DDC about the production of cross-bred calves through Artificial Insemination and functioning of farming units at Kanuyian. 

DDC urged the farmers to convert dung into bio-fertilizers for good economic returns. He also reviewed the Laboratory facilities at District Veterinary Hospital (DVH) and assured its upgradation. He stressed for making Hatchery centre with 10,000 incubation and 7,000 chicken capacities fully functional and for this purpose he also assured to provide necessary revolving fund. Besides, the DDC also directed the CAHO for expediting the left over work of poultry farm at Surankote.
