PUCA delegation meets AAP’s Chief Arvind Kejriwal

To raise the issues of the unaided AICTE approved colleges, a delegation of Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) met with the Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP’s supremo Arvind Kejriwal at Mandi Gobindgarh today. The delegation submitted the memorandum regarding the problems being faced by unaided colleges. Sh. Bhagwant Mann, Member Parliament, Sangrur was also present on the occasion.The delegation was led by Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA. Sh. Amit Sharma, senior Vice president; S. Gurfateh Gill, Vice President; Ashok Garg as Treasurer; Manav Dhawan, Tricity Coordinator; Monty Garg, Malwa-II Coordinator; Mr. Sanjeev Chopra, Doaba Coordinator; S. Jaswant Singh, President, KCT College; Mr. Ankur Garg,Director,SVIET; Dr. Akashdeep Singh, Majha Coordinator etc were also present in the meeting. Mr. Ranbir Dhindsa, Coordinator, Association of Polytechnic Colleges, Punjab was also the part of the delegation.

Kejriwal while assuring the delegation said that the matter of formation of regulatory body for private universities in Punjab would soon be taken up to National level. He further said that the delegation would be called up to Delhi so that deliberations can be done to find out immediate solution to save the dying education industry in Punjab.Sh. Amit Sharma, Senior Vice President while speaking on the occasion said that as AICTE regulates and allots the intake capacity, admission process, administration process, eligibility process, examination process, syllabi, fee structure etc of private colleges, on the similar pattern private universities and deemed universities should be brought under the ambit of AICTE or the state regulatory body.S. Gurfateh Gill, Vice President said that on the one hand government has not released the funds meant for post matric scholarship for 2015-16 on the other hand State Universities including IKG-PTU, Jalandhar and MRS-STU, Bathinda are pressurizing colleges to pay various charges. How a State university can ask for the charges from the colleges when the state government has not released the funds to the colleges?” added Gill.
