Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the progress of ongoing Rs.15.05 crore Bio-Remedial project first of its kind in the Country for the cleaning of Buddha nullah at Ludhiana here at Punjab Bhawan. Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that under this prestigious project, which was initiated with the concerted of the state government total five green bridges would be installed at various points on the buddha nullah.  Presently two such bridges have been installed and the work of remaining three would be completed by the March end.  An Environmental expert from Japan Prof. Masahisa Nakamura the Chairman ILEC Scientific Committee on Sustainability and Environmental issues was also present in the meeting.On the occasion,

Badal asked Prof. Nakamura to suggest some low cost eco-friendly technology for the cleaning of village ponds. Responding positively Prof. Nakamura agreed to work out an effective system to redress the pond cleaning issue without using expensive organic compounds. He mentioned that he would soon come with some cost effective methodology to redress this grave issue across the state. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Education Minister Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka, Rural Development Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra, Local Government Minister Mr. Anil Joshi, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. SK Sandhu, Secretary Expenditure Mr. Jaspal Singh, Secretary Science & Technology Mrs. Seema Jain, Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board Mr. Ravinder Singh, Prof. SP Gautam Ex Chairman CPCB and Member Secretary PPCB Dr. Babu Ram.
