Kashmir breaks 76 year long weather record in winter

Kashmir Valley Wednesday recorded 20.3 degree Celsius maximum temperature, the highest since year 1940 as the mercury went up 10 notches above normal temperature. A MeT Department official told Srinagar-based news agency GNS that the day temperature was recorded 20.3 degree Celsius in Srinagar and minimum was recorded -0.3 degree Celsius. He said that rise in temperature is unusual as it’s much higher than the normal.Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded 19.5 degree Celsius maximum temperature and the minimum was 1.2 degree Celsius. Pahalgam recorded 16.7 degree Celsius day temperature and -2.9 degree Celsius night temperature.

Kokernag recorded 17.5 degree Celsius maximum temperature and 2.3 degree Celsius minimum temperature. Gulmarg ski resort recorded 8.4 degree Celsius day temperature and -2.2 degree Celsius minimum temperature. Kupwara recorded 19.9 degree Celsius – the second highest in Valley – maximum temperature and 0.8 degree Celsius night temperature. The Kargil recorded 6.8 degree Celsius day temperature and -10.0 degree Celsius minimum temperature. The Leh Town recorded a maximum of 8.8 degree Celsius and -10.8 degree Celsius in the night. (GNS)
