The winds of change in Punjab seem to have already begun to blow as 'Parivar Jodo' campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) initiated just a week ago has been successful in binding more than 7.10 Lakh households in the state. Giving details AAP's Sangrur MP, Bhagwant Mann said a team of thousands of committed and unwavering volunteers who initiated the 'Parivar Jodo' campaign on February 7, in just eight days, has been able to bind with over 7 Lakh households in Punjab. Mann said according to the 2011 figures of census released by the state government there were 55 Lakh households in Punjab.

In the next few months the party with the help of unflinching volunteers would cover all households at least six times before the state assembly polls scheduled for February 2017 were announced. During the campaign the AAP volunteers spread in 117 state assembly constituencies of the Malwa, Doaba and Majha regions of Punjab have tried to reach out to all sections of the society. ”Our volunteers have been able to cover nearly 6,070 households in each assembly segment of the state ", said Mann.

Mann said during the interaction the volunteers inform the families about the ideology of the AAP and how the party planned to bring qualitative change in their lives which successive political parties such as Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress have miserably failed to do so despite tall promises made by them during the elections to attain power. These sections include farmers, youth, students, women, dalits, industrialists, traders, professionals and also the labourers. “During our interaction with the families we also learn about the various problems various sections of the society are facing for last several years. They are completely fed up with the corrupt traditional political parties and how they have cheated and exploited them over the years only to stay put in the power", said Mann.Mann said during the 'Parivar Jodo' the volunteers also enlighten the families about the various achievements of the Delhi government headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and how the AAP has been able to fulfill majority of its poll promises just in one year."The AAP government in Delhi which has completed one year on February 14  has been able to come up to the level of expectations of the residents of Delhi despite all kinds of hurdles caused by the BJP led government at the centre", added Mann.
