DGP Deputes IG Rank Officer As State Nodal Officer For Monitoring Of ‘Crimes Against Women’

Directs the Nodal Officer to devise a robust mechanism for monitoring

The Director General of Police, Punjab has deputed Smt. Vibhu Raj, IPS, Inspector General of Police/EOW, Crime, Punjab as Nodal officer of Punjab State for monitoring of ‘Crime against Women’, including all criminal cases. She will be assisted by Smt. Sanmeet Kaur, IPS, AIG/Crime.Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Punjab Police said that keeping in view the need for monitoring of serious/sensitive cases of ‘Crimes against women’, Smt. Vibhu Raj, IPS would put-up a Daily Report about sensitive/important cases of ‘Crimes against women’ to the Director General of Police and other senior officers. Sh. Suresh Arora, the DGP has directed the Nodal Officer to personally monitor all important cases of ‘Crimes against women’, and ensure that due sensitivity is shown while handling victims of crime, and ensure their proper investigation by the Investigation Officers in a time bound manner, under the supervision of concerned CPs/SSPs. 

The spokesman further said that DIG/Ranges would be responsible for monitoring all cases of ‘Crimes against women’. They would submit Monthly Report to DGP, Punjab by 5th of every month. The DGP has asked the Nodal Officer to devise a robust mechanism for such monitoring, which may include holding of meetings, submission of reports, interacting with crime victims and other suitable measures. The Nodal Officer would also keep the field officers apprised of the latest legislation and court judgments relating to ‘Crimes against women’ through monthly advisories, the spokesman added.
