Majithia felicitates Ontario Premier, lauds her efforts in strengthening bonds between both provinces

Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and the senior leadership of the Amritsar region felicitated Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne yesterday and lauded her efforts in strengthening the bond between Punjab and her province.

In a statement here, Majithia said Ms. Wynee had set the stage for closer people to people and also business interactions between people of both provinces by her historic visit to the Golden Temple. He also lauded the manner in which the Ontario Premier had taken out time to understand the essence of Sikhism and its message of peace and equality. “The Premier’s visit to the Darbar Sahab has also given an opportunity to Canadians to know more about the Sikh religion and culture and will go a long way in making Punjabis a mainstream in Canadian society”, he added.

Majithia also said the manner in which Canadians had embraced Sikhs was indicative of the positive contribution of the community in Canadian society. “We want to cement this relationship further through economic ties as well. Both Ontario and Punjab provinces can work together in the renewable energy sector besides other fields like agriculture research and the information technology sector”, he added.The Revenue minister also praised Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for inducting four Indian origin Canadians in his ministry including three Sikhs. He said Canada had constantly reposed faith in Sikhs and nominated them to high offices in keeping with their contribution to Canadian society adding the elevation of Amrik Singh Ahluwalia as the new Chair of the Ontario’s Peel Police Service was also a step in their direction.

The Revenue and Renewable Energy minister assured the Ontario Premier on behalf of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal that the Punjab government would use her good offices to further business relations between both provinces.The Premier was accompanied by a delegation of leaders and journalists including senior Liberal party leader Harinder Thakkar. Others present at the dinner get together included prominent citizens of the city as well as senior SAD leaders including Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Virsa Singh Valtoha and Harmeet Singh Dhillon.
