Rana decries caste-politics, calls for end to dangerous trend

Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Wednesday expressed concern over caste-politics being pushed into educational institutions, saying the trend is alarming and fraught with dangers of fragmenting society into bits and pieces.Interacting with a group of students affiliated to National Conference Students Union of Jammu University, Mr Rana referred to the suicide of Rohit Vemula in Hyderabad and decried attempts of polluting academic atmosphere for furthering political objectives.The Provincial President described caste politics as suicidal for healthy growth of the society, saying it may temporarily benefit someone but ultimately its impact can prove devastating. “We should take pledge to remove differences in society”, he added.

He said the BJP has unleashed a dangerous situation across the country by whipping up passions and this time they have targeted the most sensitive segment of the society. He said politics of hate is detrimental to the growth of nation and time has come when right thinking people should come forward and put a halt to the emerging unhealthy trend.The Provincial President urged the students and scholars to strive for generating an atmosphere wherein every segment of society grows optimally. “You have to create an atmosphere which is conducive for the overall growth of the student community and larger interest of academics”, he said adding that camaraderie is imperative for the younger generation to grow in unison and work for betterment of the society.

Rana exuded confidence that NCSU will perform its useful role in forging bonds of amity between students and alienate such elements which want to use them as pawns to promote a particular thought.   He reminded the participants of their responsibilities towards strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and inclusiveness among fellow students in general in true spirit of the State’s composite cultures.National Conference has always provided a platform to young leaders to grow and lead the society in different capacities”, he said and hoped that the students affiliated with NCSU will become a powerful engine to carry forward the cherished message of tolerance and amity, especially at a time when society is ridden with intolerance and hate.
