DROs Also Designated For Registration Of Marriages-Majithia
To Submit Report Every 15 Days To FCR

The Punjab Government has designated District Revenue Officers to register the marriages of NRIs.Giving details in this regard, NRI Affairs and Revenue Minister Punjab Bikram Singh Majithia said that earlier Tehsildars were the only designated officers to registrar the Marriages. Now the government has also designated District Revenue Officers alongwith Tehsildars to register the marriages. This decision has been taken to provide hassle free services during the registration of marriages. In order to eliminate the alleged corruption during the registration of marriages, Punjab Government has asked all concerned officers to submit the report about NRI marriage registrations after every 15 days to the FCR. He said that the report would comprise of all the domestic and foreign addresses along with telephone numbers to keep a check and to make the system more transparent and people friendly.
