Sukhbir Approves New Set Up For Urban Policing

 More Forces To Be Deployed In Corporation Cities

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today approved the new comprehensive plan of effective urban policing that would focus on increasing the presence of police personnel at the vulnerable points thereby instilling confidence among the masses.Reviewing the law and order situation with the DGP  Sumedh Singh Saini and senior officers of Punjab police here today,  Badal said that the new plan focuses on effective deployment of police personnel in the urban areas, optimum utilization of existing man power for law and order purposes and ordered that more police personnel should be added to urban areas to keep a strict check on petty crimes.  Badal said that the DGP himself would monitor the effective deployment of police personnel in the urban areas and review the situation on weekly basis.Asking for coordinated approach between different districts, Badal said that each district police chief would share the intelligence about the bad elements active in the region and crime and intelligence wings would monitor the movement patter of criminals to preempt their evil designs.  Badal said that he was concerned about the petty crimes as they create scare amongst the general public and said that Police effective deployment was imperative to create fear of law in the minds of criminals.Asking time bound competition of intensive CCTV surveillance project of urban areas,  Badal said that we must improve our investigative skills to check the crime and underline the need for improving conviction rate.

Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included ADGP Intelligence  Hardeep Singh Dhillon and Commissioner of Police from all commissionerates.
