2016 to be devoted to ‘progress’, State to undergo transformation

The Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal has clearly spelt out that the main agenda of the SAD-BJP government in Punjab is development and the development carried out during the previous 9 years by the government is matchless. He termed 2016 as devoted to development which would give a revolutionary facelift to Punjab.Addressing media persons at grain market during sangat darshan programmes, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government has constituted a special fund earmarking Rs. 6000 crore for development of rural areas and Rs. 4000 crore for upliftment of urban areas.Terming sangat darshan as great initiative, he said that this helps in connecting directly with the people and resolving their problems on the spot itself. On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed cheques of grants worth Rs. 7.50 crore to 81 panchayats of Jaito constituency. During the sangat darshan conducted at Jaito and Bajakhana. Rs. 2.50 crore worth grants were disbursed amongst 33 panchayats of Jaito, Rs. 2.82 crore worth grants were given to 26 panchayats of Bajakhana.

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced a special grant of Rs. 36 Lakh to Municipal Council Jaito for developmental works whereas Rs. 40 crore were sanctioned for sewerage, water supply, streets-drains and street lights in Jaito. He informed that tenders regarding this have been promulgated and work would begin next month. He also listened patiently to the demands of Shiromani Committee members and youth and disposed them on the spot besides announcing sports kits and gyms to the clubs formed by the youth hailing from villages.On the occasion, Harminder Singh of Kothe Bogha Singh profusely thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for giving a grant of Rs. 11 lakh to the village while Harnek Singh of Herian also had a word of thanks for S. Sukhbir Singh Badal for providing grant for village Dharamshala. The Deputy Chief Minister also instructed the Deputy Commissioner to take note of some issues raised by the said person. One Nirmal Singh expressing happiness said that this is the first time that demands related to the youth have been given due importance in sangat darshan and sports kits along with gym have been disbursed amongst the youth. 

The Deputy Chief Minister also listened to the grievances of people on the occasion and directed the concerned officers to promptly address them.Earlier, Halqa Incharge Parkash Singh Bhatti welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister and also made him aware about some pressing demands of the area. The Deputy Chief Minister assured to resolve these at the earliest.On the occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretary S. Mantar Singh Brar, Deputy Commisioner Malwinder Singh Jaggi, SSP Sukhminder Singh Mann, Parambans Singh Bunty Romana, Ex- MLA Sukhpal Singh Nannu, SGPC member Sukhdev Singh Batth, Prithipal Singh Romana, Jathedar Rajinder Singh Matta, Yadwinder Singh Zaildar President Municipal Council Jaito, Gurchet Singh Dhillon Chairman Co-operative Bank, Kalu Abrol, Dilbagh Singh, Sukhchain Bargari, Sangeet Mohinder Singh were present.
