Legislator Engineer Rasheed Thursday saved some Bhartiya Janata Party activists from the wrath of the common people when these activists tried to confront Rasheed for delivering a speech against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.Eyewitnesses told CNS that Rasheed along with his supporters staged a silent protest against the killing of a civilian Parvez Ahmed Guroo outside Deputy Commissioner’s Office in the district. Carrying anti-Modi banners the protesters castigated Indian Government for unleashing a reign of terror across Kashmir Valley. Witnesses added Rasheed delivered an anti-Modi, anti RSS and anti-BJP speech. “A man along with his few supporters who claimed to be the leader of the BJP Shabir Ahmed Khan arrived on the scene and accused Rasheed of being an agent of Pakistan. The BJP activists confronted Rasheed and directed him to windup anti BJP protest. However, the people surrounding Rasheed lost cool and they thrashed the BJP activist, prompting police to intervene,” said an eyewitness adding that it was Rasheed himself who saved the BJP leader from the clutches of agitated people.Confirming the incident, legislator Rasheed told CNS that it was his obligation to save his rival from the wrath of the people.Meanwhile BHP media incharge for Kashmir condemned the assault on party worker and demanded a case should be registered against the legislator.
