Special Handloom expo organized at Katra

Managing Director, State Handloom Development Corporation, Anal Kumar Gupta, inaugurated special Handloom expo- 2016 at Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra, here today.The expo, organized by the State Handloom Development Corporation Limited (Poshish) and sponsored by Development Commissioner, Union Ministry of Textile, will be conducted from 15th to 30thof January 2016.Speaking on the occasion, the MD stressed upon the need to promote the handloom activities being carried out in the state by adopting latest techniques and tools. He appreciated the efforts of Handloom Corporation and Handloom department in organising such activities which besides promoting state’s traditional handloom products will facilitates direct contact between buyers and weavers. He assured the representatives of cooperative societies to hold such expo’s in future in other parts of the state also.The MD also visited stalls at the expo and inspected products displayed by about 50 Cooperative societies of the state.The efforts of State Development Corporation for providing jobs to weavers besides ensuring them marketing support.
