MVD organizes blood donation camp

On the concluding day of 27th Road Safety Week, Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and Regional Red Cross Society organized a blood donation camp at Regional Transport Office Jammu, here today.Transport Commissioner (J&K), P.I. Khateeb inaugurated the camp. Regional Transport Officer, Ashwani Kumar Khajuria, ARTO (BOI), S. Swarn Singh, ARTO, Saleem Manhas, ARTO, Deputy Director Planning Sushil Pandita, MVD Inspectors besides other concerned officers were present on the occasion. On the occasion, about 80 volunteers including the RTO,  ARTOs, officials of MVD department besides representatives of Bus Union Jammu Kathua Group, Jammu Banihal Group, Mini Bus Workers Union, Taxi Operator Union and volunteers of the Trade Dealers  donated blood in the camp.

Transport Commissioner, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of Motor Vehicle Department for organizing the blood donation camp and other activities carried out during the road safety week to educate the people about the advantages of road safety and following traffic laws. 

He stressed upon the need to organize road safety awareness programmes throughout the year in educational institutions, RTO Office and public dominated places. He appealed the motor vehicle users to follow the traffic rules and make road safety part of life.The RTO said that this blood donation camp was part of road safety week which is of immense importance in saving human lives during serious road accidents and calamities and everybody irrespective of colour, caste and creed should voluntarily donate blood. He thanked Red Cross Society and Gandhinagar Hospital teams for their moral and active support for making the event successful. The local camp witnessed highest collection of blood units and was conducted under the supervision of U. K. Padha, Technical Officer Blood Bank, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
