Former member Parliament and senior National Conference leader Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri Friday alleged that Divisional and district administration has miserably failed to protect the rights of people of Pulwama district. He said that there forces within the establishment who are hell-bent to force every Kashmiri to surrender before the might of the police and civil administration.“It is not unlawful to erect a Martyrs memorial. It happens everywhere and in Kashmir there are hundreds of such memorials. The authorities in Kashmir still believe in Colonial laws and want to suppress the sentiments of the people which is not possible,” Ratanpuri told CNS.

Expressing concern over the sufferings of the common people in the district, Ratanpuri said that it is the responsibility of the administration to restore the rights of the people. “Every section of people in the district has been feeling the heat of the continuous shutdown while the administration is in slumber. The dogmatic approach of the administration will only worsen things. It is high time for administration to allow people to erect militant’s memorial in the district. The more space you provide to youth the more you get positive results,” he said.I vehement appeal to the State Governor NN Vohara to intervene into the matter and take all measures put an end to the deadlock between the people and the administration,” he said.
