Sukhbir Finalises Bathinda-Mansa Water Supplies And Sewerage Projects

Rs. 400 Crore To Be Incurred To Cover All 13 Major Towns

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today finalised the proposed water supplies and sewerage projects for Bathinda and Mansa districts. Giving directions to the authorities concerned to initiate tender proceedings with commencement of work before mid January, Mr. Badal said that this comprehensive project list would provide 100 percent cover of water supply and sewerage to all 13 towns of duo district. He said that with the commencement of work Goniana, Bhucho, Phul, Maur Mandi, Kotfatta, Sangat Mandi, Talwandi Sabo, Rama Mandi, Mansa, Bhikhi, Sardulgarh, Budhlada and Bareta towns would have water supply and sewerage facilities with a total of Rs. 400 crore.  In a high level meeting held here at Badal village, Mr. Badal said that Bathinda and Mansa would be developed as model districts having all basic and ultra modern facilities. 

He said that water supply and sewerage project would be implemented on operate and maintenance basis for the next 10 years. He said besides Bathinda, Mansa, state government has also decided to upgrade and strengthen the road networks at Abohar, Malout and Gidderbaha towns. He informed that Mandi Board was constructing new roads, upgrading and widening the old ones with a focus to meet the needs of next 20 years.  Asking the concerned department to complete the projects within given deadlines, Mr. Badal said that ensuring completion of works in stipulated time frame, departments should also maintain the quality as there would be no compromise on quality measures. He said that international standard companies should be engaged to provide 100 percent sewerage and 100 percent 24X7 potable water supply. He said that Water Supply and Sanitation department will also start the work relating to water supply pipelines within one month to complete the project within stipulated time frame for the facilitation of Malwa residents.
