DDC Anantnag reviews preparedness of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme

617 vaccine booths setup for the first Round to be held on 17 January

To review the preparedness of the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme, which will commence on January 17th in district Anantnag, a meeting of District Task Force was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Muneer ul Islam at DC office Complex here today Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner stressed upon officers of the Health, ICDS, and Education departments to make the immunization programme a success and leave no stone unturned to fully immunize the children below 5 years in every nook and corner of the district. He insisted upon the officers to mobilize their men and machinery and make the vaccination teams robust to make the district polio free.The CMO, Anantnag apprised the meeting about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the first round in which as many as 134229 children below five years of age, will be immunized at  617 vaccination booths that will be established in the district in which 2468 team members including 1213 health workers, 588 ASHA workers and 482 Anganwadi workers will be deployed. Besides 07 transit points will also be setup in the district. The DDC directed the CMO to organize awareness campaign using print and electronic media to sensitize people of the district about Pulse Polio campaign. He further directed the officers of the health department to conduct door to door awareness campaign in every block to ensure cent percent immunization coverage in first phase of the immunization programme.Among others, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, IPPI Nodal officer, officers of Education and ICDS department and BMOs attended the meeting.
