National Conference leader and Party’s Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu  Tuesday expressed disappointment and dismay at the fact that people in Khonmoh had been living in seemingly never-ending darkness since the last four months due to the continued delay in the restoration of the Khonmoh Receiving Station Transformer and said this was unacceptable in the present day and age. Interacting with party cadre and various public delegations from Khonmoh, Baalhama and Zawooraon Monday, Junaid Mattu sought the immediate restoration of 6.6 Khonmoh Receiving Station Transformer and said the Administration couldn’t force thousands of people into the cruelty of the harsh winter cold without the electric supply that was their right.

I was shocked to learn that thousands of people in Khonmoh and parts of Balhama have been living in abject darkness since four months due to the Administration’s refusal to restore the damaged Khonmoh Receiving Station Transformer – which has been gathering dust at a private workshop since months. Why didn’t the PDD expedite this matter or pull up the workshop that was delegated with the restoration work? Why is there such a brazen lack of concern from the PDD when thousands of its consumers are shivering in bone-chilling cold in the absence of electricity since months? This is extremely disappointing and dismaying. This behaviour is unacceptable in the present day and age”, Junaid Mattu said during the course of his meetings in Khonmoh.

The NC Spokesperson also highlighted the lack of adequate water supply in Khonmoh, Baalhama and Zawoora and said many vital water supply pumps were dysfunctional due to lack of electricity and alternate generate arrangements. Junaid Mattu also expressed dismay at the condition of potholed link-roads that connect various localities and habitations to the main Khonmoh arterial road and said this Administration should rectify these deficiencies in an effective and time-bound manner.
