“Har Khet Ko Pani” mission of the Government

in order to increase the production and productivity of Agriculture/Horticulture crops in the State, the Command Area Development (CAD) Wing of Agriculture Department, Jammu, organized One day Training-cum-Workshop in the Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu today.As many as 51 officers of the CAD and Agriculture Deptt from Jammu Division including Chief Agriculture Officers, Assistant Commissioner, Development and other senior officers participated in the day long workshop.Director, Command Area Development, Jammu A.K.Malhotra and Director Agriculture Dr. S.S. Jamwal addressed the gathering and highlighted the aims and objective of the programme. They said “Har Khet Ko Pani” scheme is a mission of the government which would be implemented at grass root level in letter and spirit. The Directors advised the officers to formulate District Irrigation Plans under PMKSY Scheme.

Mr. Malhotra said that the scheme will ensure convergence of various departments like Irrigation, underground Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, IWMP, Forest, Command Area Development, Project Director ATMA etc. He instructed all the concerned to l submit their plans to be included in the District Irrigation Plan at an earliest. The Director also gave power presentation on PMKSY scheme.

 Director Agriculture, Jammu Dr. S.S. Jamwal, discussed each section of template for preparation of DIPs provided in the guidelines of PMKSY scheme. He advised the participants to prepare the DIP as early as possible. Divisional Forest Officer, Rajouri Anoop Soni,  Master Trainer from Dehradun, highlighted some of the important components to be taken into consideration while formulation of DIP like water requirement for domestic, industrial and agriculture purposes, total availability of water in the district from various available sources besides cropping pattern of the district. He laid emphasis on lift irrigation with the help of solar power operated pumps and snow harvesting in trenches in the Chenab valley.

Director Planning, M.R. Mattoo, asked the participants to collect the data at village, panchayat, block and district level from the various departments for different parameters as per the guidelines required to be incorporated in the DIP. He added that in case district wants to include any other agency which is not mentioned in the nominated District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) this could be done by the chairman of concerned DLIC on need base.Assistant Commissioner Trainings Dr. Owasi Ahmed gave overall view of the PMKSY scheme.
