PDP achieved in 3 years what NC couldn't in 40 years: Baig

Terming the peoples court as supreme in any democratic system, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday asked the ruling National Conference to look into the report card of their last five years of rule, instead of questioning the PDP’s brief tenure in the government.

Addressing public meetings at Sheikhpora and Telwan in Shangus constituency, the senior party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzzaffar Hussain Baig said the NC by its political designs and lust for power has brought the state to the verge of bankruptcy, as governance is crumbling and chaos prevailing in the system and the rulers has nothing to offer as their achievements. "PDP's three years in power outweigh NC's forty years during which they received overwhelming support of people whom they deceived and backstabbed at every crucial juncture", said Baig.The party senior leaders, Mohammad Rafi Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and Peerzada Mohammad Hussain were present and spoke on the occasionBaig said Omar Abdullah has miserably failed to rule the state and he (Abdullah) is using his friendship in New Delhi only to be in the power without caring about the people’s aspirations.  The PDP, on the other hand, used its stint in power for the welfare of the people and got liberal funding both from the NDA and UPA governments that helped a great deal to change the development scenario of the state, Baig said adding a difference was felt on the ground and everyone around talks about that with all sincerity.To show their loyalty and remain in power all the three chief ministers from the Abdullah family have sold out around one dozen feasible power projects to New Delhi, Baig said and added the ruling party is projecting people of J&K as beggars in Delhi, which is brazen insult to the people’s sentiments..

Baig said the present crisis prevailing across the Kashmir is direct result of NC’s sellouts and mismanagement of state resources of which people are paying heavy price for. Instead the PDP, within no time after assuming the office in 2002, took care of people’s needs and ensured decent power supply to all.Baig said people are the best judges to weigh parties on their performance and PDP’s brief rule stands out for its contribution in getting the state out of the repression, darkness and mess, which was created by NC by its insensitiveness and brutality. Baig said the youth have an important role to play, to get rid of this cruel government, next year, and ensure a system where people can get justice and respect
