Abdul Haq lays foundation stone of CFC, road at Kokernag

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq, on Saturday laid foundation stone of a Community Facility Centre at Devalgam in Breng valley of Kokernag constituency to be constructed under "CFC in every constituency” programme with an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakh.Addressing a mammoth gathering, after laying foundation stone for the project, the Minister said that it is the endeavor of present dispensation to build strong and durable assets under MGNREGA for larger benefit of the people. “Development is a common issue which is being pursued with utmost zeal and dedication and we will not let any political interference hamper growth of the state mere to meet their vested interests”, maintained the Minister while retraiting governments’ commitment of extending more responsive and accountable dispensation to its people.

 Highlighting the importance of CFCs and Panchayat Ghars, Abdul Haq said under the new concept of convergence of funds, sustainable assets are being created under MGNREGA in rural areas of the State. He said development of rural and remote areas is being ensured with the implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes that will be instrumental in changing socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas besides providing them much needed employment opportunities.Responding to demand of locals youth, the Minister announced rupees ten lakh for developing a playground in the village.Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of a road from Sagam to Kandiwara village which will be constructed under convergence scheme with department of R&B.

Responding to people’s demand, the Minister announced Rs. 10 lakh for flood protection works on Breng Nallah in Sagam village.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the coalition government believes in empowering people at all levels by taking governance at grass root level. He stressed on the need to further strengthen the Panchayat Raj system which is a potent tool in improving the living standards of rural masses. He asked the officers to hold Graham Sabhas on regular basis.The Minister asked people to ensure their participation in all welfare and development programmes being executed in their respective areas for better outcome. He said that people’s feedback about implementation of various schemes is imperative for effective results.The Minister was accompanied by DC Anantnag Muneer ul Islam, MLA Kokernag Abdul Raheem Rather, district officers of the district and other officials of RDD.
