Two drug peddlers from North Kashmir booked and lodged in Kathua jail

Two ‘notorious’ drug peddlers of Baramulla were booked under Narcotic Drug Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPSA) and lodged in Kathua jail, police said.“Two notorious drug peddlers of Baramulla town Ghulam Nabi Bhat @ Setha Kalas son of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat resident of Mohalla Khawaja Sahib and Naveed Manzoor Najar @ Babloo Nakwoor son of Manzoor Ahmad Najar resident of Iqbal Colony, Baramulla have been booked under stringent law of JKPIT-NDPSA and lodged in Kathua Jail. The duo was indulging in nefarious activities of drug trafficking for a long time,” a police statement said Friday evening.

Several people indulging in drug trafficking in Baramulla have been recently lodged in Kathua and Udhampur jails and action will be taken against all those people who have come into the notice of police for such anti-social activities.The statement added that police arrested a drug peddler and recovered codeine phosphate from his possession.On specific information, a police team from Police Station Sopore apprehended a person Mehraj-ud-din Mir @ Juja son of Muhammad Fareed resident of Adipora, Sopore at Adipora. Twenty seven bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession. A Case FIR number 284/15 under section 8/22 NDPS was registered against him and investigation was taken up.
