SSB, SWB launch vocational program for women in Srinagar

Under Civic Action Program, 47Bn of Shastra Seema Bal (SSB) and J&K Social Welfare Board (SWB) today launched a month long vocational training program based on livelihood generation for women in cutting, tailoring and boutique at Tinda Mohalla, in interior area of the Dal Lake.Speaking on the occasion DIG Police said that it is for the second time when SSB has launched such training in the valley. “If we get a positive feedback we will run the same program for few more months so that these women get sufficient training and can learn to earn a living for themselves,” DIG said.

Around 20 girls belonging to below poverty line category including two physically disabled have been registered for the programme.DIG said that apart from this program these girls will also be trained in first aid medical assistance. “Some other vocational training program will be followed like making of jam, pickles and other things,” he said.Executive Director and Secretary Social Welfare Board, Aamir Ali, said that the aim of this program is to empower these women.The program was also attended by SSB Kashmir R.K. Bhumbla, SDM Srinagar Dr. Syed Hanief Balkhi .Meanwhile locals appreciated the SSB and Social Welfare Department for launching the program in order to empower the girls of the area.
