Ban On Polythene To Be Instrumental In Success Of Swachh Bharat Mission: Anil Joshi

The Punjab Local Government Minister Anil Joshi today said that the decision taken by the Punjab Cabinet to ban Polythene in the state would prove to be highly beneficial move to ensure successful implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (SWM).Addressing the audience after inaugurating the one day state level workshop, on implementation of community and public toilets schemes,  by the local government department here at MGSIPA sector 26, the Minister said that the Punjab Government is making all out efforts to implement the SWM in the state and a sum of Rs. 382.66 crore would be spent for the purpose.

Mr. Joshi further said that by the end of October 2019 the private households would have 1,96,000 toilets. Besides this 404 community toilets and 960 public toilets would also be constructed and the community toilets would have 3231 seats while 960 public toilets would have 7673 seats. He further said that the construction work of 65,000 personal toilets had been initiated.

During the workshop representatives of Delhi Urban Art Commission, Urbane Industries Limited and Sulabh International Social Service Organistaions had presented their power point presentations about the construction of public and community toilets.
