Arun Jaitley delivers the 28th I.B. Centenary Endowment Lecture

The Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Arun Jaitley delivered the 28th I.B. Centenary Endowment Lecture here today. Dwelling upon Economic Offences and National Security, Shri Jaitley said that the growth of white collar crimes is a relatively recent phenomenon in India. As a result both methods of investigation, prevention and adjudication of such offences need to keep pace, he added.Shri Jaitley said the period 1947-1991 in Indian history can be termed as the era of the Licence Raj. Post-1991, during the Prime Ministership of PV Narasimha Rao, the industrial licensing was abolished in almost all industries and a policy of liberalization adopted, he added.The lecture was organized by the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs. The senior officers of the Government of India, including IB officers and Central and State Police organization attended the lecture.
