Education Ministers Summons Teachers With 8o To 100 Percent Result Failure

Department Prepares Database Of Class 10 & 12 Result Of Last Five Years

With the view to upgrade the education standards in the government schools of the state, the Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema summoned 186 teachers/lecturers who have shown poor performance by delivering 80 to 100 percent result failure in board examinations of 10th and 12th standards. These teachers have been summoned on January 6, 2016at head office Mohali for a brainstorming session wherein reasons for the result failure would be probed and ways and means would be suggested for the education reform.While speaking to media persons here today, Dr. Cheema said that out of these 186 teachers/lecturers 32 teachers have shown  worst result with 100 percent result failure in 10th and 12thexaminations. Likewise the average result failure of 4 teachers is ranging between 95 to 99 percent, 15 teachers with average 90 to 94 percent result failure and average 80 to 89 percent students failed in their examinations taught by 135 teachers.

Dr. Cheema said that the department had sought online data of result of 10th and 12th standards for the last five years. He said that based on data received a comprehensive data base has been prepared which has revealed the average result of each teachers/lecturers in the previous five years. He said that total 3017 teachers have delivered less than 50 percent result. He said that the teachers with worst result would be summoned in phased manner and a personal meeting with each teachers/lecturers would be held in to improve their performance.While speaking on the occasion of a state level function organised by unaided private schools, Dr Cheema urged all the private schools to assist the Punjab government in implementing Punjabi Languages Act in all schools in true spirit. He said that its sad that still 32 private schools are not teaching Punjabi language as a compulsory subject from class first to tenth. Dr Cheema made it clear that schools not teaching Punjabi and Hindi as compulsory subjects from next academic session would be dealt strictly and action would also be taken against them.

He further informed that on the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court, a regulatory authority is being set up by the Punjab Education Department and the meeting of draft committee has already taken place. He said that after the details are finalised, they would be uploaded on the department website so that private schools and common man can give his or her suggestions. Dr Cheema appreciated the role of private schools in lifting the standard of education in Punjab and all their problems and issues would be sorted out soon.Dr Cheema said that now, each school would not have to apply for affiliation every year as the department has decided that schools fulfilling all terms and conditions will not have to apply for the sake of affiliation. He said that the applications of 35 such schools are still pending with the department.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Association president Rajesh Rudra, DEO (Secondary) Paramjit Kaur Chahal, DEO (Elementary) Gurjot Singh, besides several others.
